New Day 4

March 11, 2021: Starting to catch up today by decluttering the new declutter… LOL! Who knew there was such a thing!?!?

Well, here’s how it happened … during the mini-hiatus, I had taken pictures of what I was removing… and removed the items… Then, the pictures became lost in subsequent photos and files… Thus, creating more clutter! (eye roll here)

Here’s what’s already moved on:

some paper and plastic recycling, half a dozen jar lids which have become rusty (only 2 pictured here), 3 used masks (which created a surprising project), some very old lollipop wrappers (which created a science project ~ I spared you a photo ~ I have no words), 2 batteries (discovered in a missing book lamp ~ isn’t amazing where clutter takes up residence!?!?), 3 coupons (to be donated) and 3 more magazines.

I even took it one step further tonight… by doing something very difficult for me… I deleted the blurry and repeat photos taken for this blog. (I know! I am stunned too!)

So before I re-think that move and hit “restore”, let’s tally…. today started with 369. By my count, today is 18. Leaving 351 to go. Woohoo! Progress!

So…. the surprising project from the used masks… I removed the “nose bendy things” to glue into my cloth masks… did you know those bendy things are basically twist ties!?!? Best part, win-win… now cloth masks are safer and something was repurposed. Now, if only there was somewhere to donate used masks….. hmmmmm….

Before you get too grossed out, this very clever furniture design student in South Korea, Kim Ha-neul, figured out how to safely take the masks and upcycle them into furniture! Apparently, it takes 1,500 masks to make 1 stool! How cool is that?!?! And less plastic in the landfill!!!

Now, my “over thinker” wants to mail them overseas, but shhhh! I have it distracted at the moment with how to organize the new first aid items. If anyone knows of anywhere they can be donated more locally (USA), please let me know before I find myself in an interrogation room being questioned as to why I’m internationally mailing potential viruses to a stranger. Thanks!

Luckily the post office is closed, so I can currently say with confidence, See you tomorrow!

Hi, I'm Maggie! My grandmother always told me I should have weekly newspaper column titled "Maggie Says What" because of the outrageous things she thought I said. Then, she would laugh & laugh. Now, in honor of her, I am trying my hand at a blog. Hope you like it! Or at least have a good eye roll! ; )
