February 10, 2021: Does it ever feel like the grand scheme to life is playing practical jokes on all of us?!?!? LOL
As I look around, all I can see is everything I already cleared out in November and wish I had now to make this challenge easier! LOL! You know … boxes of magazines, newspapers, dried up pens, books, etc… guess it’s time to go deeper — maybe even back into the crawl space… LOL
Btw, more ironic humor abounds ~ I learned a new word from my friend Anne in the UK: Flinter. A flinter is a piece of rubbish. A flinter-drawer is a messy drawer or one full of odds and ends. ROFL! I could win the challenge if all I had to do was count flinter-drawers!!!
So off I dive into the great unknown of these cabinets of chaos… Hope I can find my way out! LOL
Starting with the cleaning drawer proved lucky — 4 more swiss cheese rags! and a few bits of trash/recycling. 5 down and 5 to go!
Onto 2 more flinter-drawers which yielded 2 more piles of trash/recycling… Also realizing, painfully, I need to “Marie Kondo” said drawers with dividers… and remember my lessons from Julie Morgenstern about keeping things together that go together… for example, keeping pens in the office supply drawer instead of the cleaning supply one… Ai yi yi!!! (maybe March needs to be organizing month)… LOL! Well, 7 down with 3 to go!
I discovered I also have a basket filled with a variety of binders which morphed into a flinter-basket! In addition to dried up rubber bands and twist ties, I removed food coloring pens, straws and cut flower food packets. (I have no words… ) At least, 8 down, 2 to go!
(I have to say … this is embarrassing — I’m shocked at how much trash didn’t head straight to the bin!) Fully bewildered by myself and shaking my head in disbelief, I move on….
Sorting some papers created 1 bag of recycling and I added 6 catalogs to it, so that equals 2 (in my book) and brings the total to 10! Yeah! Challenge met!
What a day… daunting, humiliating and most importantly a lesson in laughing at one’s own humanity ~ and enjoying the practical jokes bestowed upon us! LOL
See you tomorrow!
